Why we exist

We use international adventure to help students discover and apply their unique skills from an early age.

We believe the clarity gained from self-discovery will compound for a lifetime.

Three trips, three distinct outcomes: self-discovery, foundational communication skills, and a head start on building a lasting network. Whether you complete one journey or all three, you'll get the most out of your summer adventure.

The Experience

We believe seeing a new place, trying new things, and making new friends is table stakes for a summer adventure.

But why stop there? We reach beyond, taking students on a journey of self-discovery, with real opportunities for reflection, leadership, development, and actionable feedback that leads to meaningful personal growth.

William O'Gorman

Founder & Director

William founded Opus Journeys after recognizing how the right people and the right experiences can shape a young person's trajectory. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia, where his involvement in the Corsair Society showed him firsthand how relationships, mentorship, and professional skills can compound academic excellence into opportunity, and his time studying international business at Oxford University's Trinity College demonstrated the personal growth that can come from immersive experiences abroad.

After graduation, William became a CFA Charterholder and built his career in credit research at J.P. Morgan. Most recently, he spent a summer as a trip leader with a leading teen adventure company, guiding three international programs for co-ed groups of teenagers across South Africa and Mozambique.

These experiences became the foundation for Opus: an intentional combination of adventure, personal development, and meaningful relationships designed to help young people thrive in college, their careers, and beyond.

Our Name

Opus is Latin for work – in classical music, an opus is also the term often used for a composer's masterpiece. Opus Journeys was founded on two beliefs: first, that real growth takes the same kind of intentional effort a composer puts into their work. Second, that when you love what you do, work transforms into fun. As our students discover what's possible for their future, we're here to help them have fun writing their own masterpiece.
